The Tools and Resources section is a free to use resource aimed at supporting publishers and other stakeholders learn more about Diamond Open Access (OA) and the Diamond Open Access Standard (DOAS), which promotes quality in Diamond OA publishing
The Diamond OA section offers articles explaining the concept of Diamond OA and an introduction to DOAS. The toolsuite articles themselves are divided into sections that follow the seven core components of DOAS:
They can be read as one resource, or standalone articles. Each article provides the reader with a high-level overview of the core component or one particular aspect. They are fully referenced with an additional further reading section. Keywords, frequently asked questions and a glossary of terms are embedded within the articles as well as links to other related articles and guidelines. A set of related toolkits are also provided for further reading.
The guidelines themselves offer a more granular approach to specific parts of DOAS, they can be read as a single set of texts, or referred to from the toolsuite article for more in depth discussion. They can also be accessed from the DOAS self-assessment tool, for which they were designed.
There are two self-assessment tools that sit at the heart of DOAS. The links will send you to a separate site which requires registration. They provide an intuitive user experience for publishers to analyse their level of compliance with the DOAS or sustainability parameters. The tool consists of two parallel instances that can be completed sequentially, if desired.
It is advisable to read the toolsuite articles for a general introduction to each component before navigating the self-assessment tool. The guidelines then act as additional support for areas that have been identified as key areas of improvement for many publishers.
